4th CHRONOS Retreat - Renaissance Savery Hotel, Des Moines, August 18-19, 2006

This meeting is open to all interested in learning more about CHRONOS and in giving feedback to the CHRONOS team to help them best serve their science needs. Participation by representatives from the database groups federated with CHRONOS, industry, and others interested in sharing data and/or tools through CHRONOS is particularly encouraged

The retreat will consist of two days of brief presentations, live demonstrations, and discussion sessions on databases, networking, tool and service development, and education activities.

Interested participants are encouraged to register promptly and indicate if they would like to apply for travel and lodging support. The participation of students that have been working on CHRONOS is encouraged and travel funds are available thanks to corporate sponsorships.

Registration fee is $50.00 payable by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) only. The registration fee for graduate and undergraduate students is waived, upon verification of status.

Des Moines International Airport (www.dsmairport.com) is served by all major airlines. The hotel is located 4.8 miles from the airport. Transportation to the hotel is available by taxi (approx. $12).

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Renaissance Savery for participants at the rate of $89 plus tax per night. This rate will be honored until the block has been filled, then based on availability of rooms. Since the Iowa State Fair is taking place during the retreat, we encourage participants to reserve early.

A limited amount of travel support is available for qualified participants. Student travel awards sponsored by SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology), NAMS (North American Micropaleontology Section . SEPM) for Micropaleontology, AASP (American Association of Stratigraphic Palynologists), GCS-SEPM (Gulf Coast Section . SEPM) and ESRI are available.
